She mentions in her book how psychologists usually have first hand experience with mental disorders and character disturbances, and that is usually what gets them interested in this profession in the first place. I feel like her perpetration of these kinds of neglect and abuse gives her more insight, not less. I'm not bringing this up to discredit the books per se, I just felt like her son's story deserves to be shared and I believe him. Except Martin is the son of the children’s rights advocate.' It sounds like a case right out of the book “The Drama of the Gifted Child” by world-renowned Swiss psychoanalyst Alice Miller. There's a pretty interesting documentary about this that I haven't watched but looks very intriguing: 'Martin is rejected by his cold, uncaring mother and beaten by his father: a childhood without love. Sorry to disappoint, but I was glad to know this once I found out about it: her son, who is also a psychotherapist, has spoken out about his own childhood and Alice Miller seems to have a pretty severe blind spot because apparently she was the exact kind of abusive mother she wrote about in her books. It really helped me understand dysfunctional and abusive family dynamics, and it painted a pretty validating picture of my own home life. The first book I read that really convinced me that maybe the way I have felt all my life wasn't my fault. Please provide a brief description for videos and podcasts.
